Current own Projects

Robert Bachner Quintet | My own Big Band | Duo with Helmar Hill | Count Phenomium

Robert Bachner Quintet

Besides playing numerous concerts as a sideman I also have 3 major own projects at the moment. The first and my main project is the Robert Bachner Quintet. With this band I play mainly my own compositions. With Christian Salfellner (dr), Uli Langthaler (b), Reinhard Micko (p) & Christian Maurer (saxes) I really found the "perfect" band to play my tunes. Listen to some examples of the new CD "Travelling Hard" on the CD & Music page.

Robert Bachner Big Band

Second, finally I also founded my own Big Band now! Another big band ;-) With this band I will play my own original big band charts and arrangements which I wrote in the last few years. If you want to have them played more often, you have to found your own Big Band! We will also start out with some beautiful original charts of Ella Fitzgerald featuring my lovely wife Karin Bachner on vocals. Please also have a look at some nice photos (part1 and part2) from our very first concert at the Jazzland on june 6th 2005 © by Paul Jimenez. Join us from January to June 2007 as "Stage Band" at the Porgy & Bess in Vienna!

Karin Bachner, vocals; Saxophones: Gerald Preinfalk, Andi See, Christian Maurer, Ilse Riedler, Thomas Kugi; Trumpets: Aneel Soomary, Jörg Engels, Daniel Nösig, Barny Girlinger; Trombones: Martin Ptak, Mario Vavti, Bernhard Karoh, Charly Wagner; Rhythm Section: Adrian Reiter (guit), Robert Schönherr (p), Gina Schwarz (b), Klemens Marktl (dr)

Duo with Helmar Hill

And third, I also play Duo with pianist & great composer Helmar Hill. End of november 2005 we finally recorderd Helmar´s great concerto for trombone & piano called "Ein feiner Zug" along with some other nice compositions by myself and Helmar. The recordings went great, so watch out for this new CD called "Ein feiner Zug" which will be released in spring 2007.

Count Phenomium

Another very interesting project I am also working on is a band called "Count Phenomium". This band will feature myself on Euphonium and it will also have a more "electric" line up, ie. fender rhodes & electric bass. This band hasn´t played a single concert yet, but I am working on some tunes already. So watch out for that band too. You will hear the euphonium there in a very ecxiting & groovy "electric-setting".
